2010 BMW 120i Convertible

Small rear wheel driven drop-tops are a rare sight in Singapore and this is Sherman, proudly posing with his prized possession of the BMW 120i convertible. The choice of car probably reflects his personality – a little understated but knows when to let go and have fun when the party’s on. Warming up to the shoot, posing for the camera with little antics was a total natural to him. Male model for fashion photography, anyone?

2008 Mercedes CLC180 Coupe

This is TohWee and Rebecca, and they are affectionately in love with each other (and their ride). Lots of memories have been created around and in the car, and both of them are going to miss it when the timeless coupe gets a new owner. This is possibly the last farewell shoot before that happens, and we gladly took on the task. Enjoy.

2008 Honda Civic Type R 2.0L Sports Sedan

“The red Type R emblem says it all. The car communicates something emotional to the driver.”

“It’s a racing car that you can drive on the streets. That’s my image of the car.”

“A light-weight car that’s fun to drive on track and on winding roads. It’s a car that challenges the driver.”

These are the exact words that were being conveyed after professional racing drivers in Japan took the Honda Civic Type R aka FD2R out for a good time around the track. Honda wanted a car with linear handling, a car with high rigidity, drives stable when doing hard braking into a corner, and transfers direct feedback from the road straight to the driver’s hands at the steering wheel.

In other words, the FD2R is a very raw and capable track attack car that many racing enthusiasts pick as their weapon of choice. Jason is one such enthusiast who spare no effort in making his special blue pantone FD2R one of the most finely tuned machine in the market.

Jason’s K24 engine block has been upgraded with forged CP pistons to handle more power. To tackle the potential stress on the transmission, Earl’s oil cooler is installed to maximise surface to outside air heat transfer, thereby optimising engine and transaxle cooling under extreme racing conditions.

J’s Garage fat tummy intake is also fitted to greatly improve airflow rate. Forged racing radiator is also used to further cool down the temperature of the car on race days. The exhaust system upgrade starts from a Skunk 2 Alpha Header to maximise exhaust flow and gain, and further enhanced by a customised 3 inch cat back.

There you go, spot the exhaust! Or is it an EV?

On the exterior, replicas J’s Racing front lip and J’s Racing CF rear diffuser have been installed, together with OEM style carbon fibre bonnet. Offset for the wheel setup is also different. The front is fitted with Advan RZ rims and the rear, Advan RS.

In the driver’s cockpit, stock seats have been replaced with H Drive’s bucket seat with Miki low rail. Adding to the touch, a H Drive gear knob has also been fitted on the Comptech short shifter.

With this configuration, it reduces driver’s shifter throw by 38% and significantly improves shifter comfort and drive feel. A set of Defi Advance ZD OLED multi display and AEM air fuel ratio gauge were mounted on the dashboard to feed in important real time data from the engine.

The result is a balanced monster ready to scorch the tarmac at his beck and call.

Car Group Genji Perfect Speed

Bros don’t necessarily have to say anything to each other – they can stand beside their rides and just be completely comfortable with each other.

This is Genji Perfect Speed aka GPS. The GPS team was formed by a few good men who have been together through thick and thin. Their toys grew bigger as they move along in life, and this is where their love for naturally aspirated cars began. Who forms GPS, you may ask. Purely car enthusiasts irregardless of auto styling or performance, they come together on a common ground to share their drive experiences and impart automotive knowledge to each other.

GPS engaged us to shoot a small, private group of five cars, namely, two Mitsubishi Lancers, a Honda DC5 Integra, Subaru WRX and a Honda Stream. Apart from their racing inspired livery, exhaust notes of a healthy decibel dosage is also the common denominator.

2008 Audi A4 3.2L FSI Quattro, 2.0L and 1.8L Sedan

Three Audi A4s, three different power trains.

You could immediately hear the fury of exhaust notes these cars made a mile away before you get to see them. The leader of the pack was a special blue wrapped, naturally aspirated V6 3.2L FSI Quattro variant. Acting as sidekicks were two other A4 variants in murdered black and glorious white – a 1.8T FSI S-Line and a 2.0T FSI S-Tronic Quattro respectively – all tuned to unlock their engines’ potential.

Upon arrival, the trio quickly formed up behind our all-ready cam car to capture the first runs under an overcast morning sky. As we fired away the shots, it was inherent to us why the A4 continues to be one of the more popular executive sedans in the market, especially in the used car market.

Thanks to its bold styling and clean lines, the A4 still look timeless today despite being close to a decade old. It could also be the fact that the B6 A4 was the brainchild of Peter Schreyer way back two generations ago at Audi that has kept this design influence going strong. The A4 has the ability to blend spirited driving performance with passenger comfort at a reasonable price. This combination of factors is probably her recipe of success.

This is the reason why this A4 is so good looking. We usually don’t approve of sticking a big ass GT wing on a 4-door sedan but the owner took a gamble and it pays off handsomely, literally.

The machine is German but the heart is JDM. You can tell by the number of decals shouting Japan which the owner has stuck to the car.

Under the hood is Audi’s 3.2L V6 TFSI direct injection, capable of an impressive 265 horsepower and 243 pound feet of torque, mated to ZF transmission that delivers continuous power so smoothly to the wheels. It hits the century mark from stationery under 6.5 seconds. The interior boasts some custom fibre parts that adds to the overall appeal.

They say wheels maketh the car and the choice is a set of VMR 19 inchers which performs as good as it looks. The rims are machined in house specifically to the car to ensure proper bolt-on fitment.

Cars bond people and tuning them brings them even closer. It is a mark of achievement for the car lovers for the painstaking work and time devoted to leave a small legacy in the car scene.

Like a famous quote from the movie Band of Brothers, “From this day to the ending of the world, but we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.” For the three owners (and every other driver on this island), it is also “Till COE do us part”.

2013 Audi A1 1.0L Sportback

The owner of this bewitching red Audi A1 Sportback is a fan of lush greens and heritage roads. Well, actually most city dwellers like you and me do. Who wouldn’t? Having face the concrete jungle for most of our waking times, we long for that little escape into the wild to get back in touch with mother nature.

The striking Misano red supermini took to the B-roads gladly, much to delight of the owner. The premium 1.0 litre A1 Sportback is a surprising little car. Despite being a 3-cylinder (Audi’s first), the engine doesn’t sound nor drive like one, thanks to a small turbocharger and direct injection technology. It is adequately fast, nippy and hugs dearly to the tarmac whenever we push it round the corners. Some say it’s built to rival a Mini Cooper but in reality, they are two very different cars in terms of drive and styling.

Overall, the A1 Sportback is a very fashionable looking car, and there are no doubts on the equipment and interior luxury trims. With the downsizing of the engine capacity, it is definitely a car built for lower running costs and taxes for the smart urbanites.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

You want to lead, to be the coolest, have the most charm and be simply irresistible to any gender. Everyone wants to gravitate to and look like you in every way. (That, we believe is what the owner, Chris had in mind when he decided on the choice of colour.) In this case, you will be known as Blue Steel, a famous modeling move in comedy flick, Zoolander. On the contrary, this Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in special matte lightning blue steel wrap is definitely not to be taken lightly.

With the help of both Liberty Walk performance and Novitec’s generous kitting of carbon fibre parts plus some exhaust tuning, and a full set of staggered polished liquid smoke ADV.1 rims (ADVNL2 MV1 SL – front 20″ X 9; rear 21″ X 12.5) to die for, right down to custom car mats made out of imported genuine bespoke crocodile skin, this Aventador has stylishly and audaciously transformed herself into an unimaginably meaner beast that looks perfect from any angle of approach.

Just take a look for yourself.

She could be the reason why you clicked on this post. Our model of the day is Rachel, a svelte young lady who is absolutely dressed to the nines to tame the beast. She has a natural flair flaunting her moves in her blue bodycon dress around the bull.

With an excellent vehicle like this, who is not compelled to pose like a supermodel?

This is our second Aventador shoot and we hell know how much this insane Italian engineering work of art sounds and moves.
Of course we would also prefer to capture some great moving angles but after our time ran lean from the modelling session, we only had the luxury of shooting it when Chris was leaving. The stress was on us now and we only had one chance to do it right. Luckily yes, we didn’t screw up.

2007 Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1.5L Sedan

The landscape is getting tougher to mod a car in Singapore especially with the recent clamp down on an ever increasing modification “ban” list that dampens local car enthusiasts here. Some make sense whereas a few, questionable. In any case, this did not prevent Jiawei from tinkering his Mitsubishi Lancer EX within the legal boundaries using his good eye for colour and body styling.

His favourite unspoken colour is Vermilion, a special hue of orange and red that is strikingly loud on the streets even at night. That goes up as the main wrap colour for his ride with black as a secondary colour accent.

Inspired by the brand’s halo car, the Evolution X, Jiawei’s car is fitted with rally style front lip and side skirt, CZ4A model’s bonnet hood, fender side vents and spoiler. Add on a set of black 18″ sports rims and the external visual appeal climbed up a few notches.

Visual appeal didn’t stop there. Swinging into the car, hints of vermillion peppered the interior. A striking gearbox with a custom cut panel in glossy vermillion that looks oh so juicy greeted us. We then noticed the IU cover, mobile phone holder, steering wheel emblem, right down to the car mats are of vermillion shade too. Now, that’s styling consistency!
With the haze hitting us hard during the shoot, we knew the best opportunity was here to create mystery and intrigue in our shots. This dark, secluded back alley in the CBD has indeed made the haze work in our favour.  No single smoke machine in the market could replicate such an authentic feel to the final edits. The downside? We literally had to shoot wearing our N95 masks for a couple of hours.

2014 Audi A3 1.4L Sedan

A Glacier White Audi A3 sedan sped graciously down the highway on a moonless night, occasionally grunting to hint at the need for a harder push on the pedal. It takes joy in acceleration and release of tensions built up in the turbocharger very much like a pressure cooker.

Yet at the same time, the new A-segment sedan prides itself in plush interior comfort and noise deadening from the outside world. Spotting a shorter but wider wheel base than a regular sedan means it can also take more punches at the steering wheel when cornering. The whole ride becomes more agile and receives more feedback from the road directly beneath.

This handsome, Bauhaus-design inspired German marque 1.4L TFSI A3 sedan may be categorised as an entry level, but everything else about it shouts premium and is equally rewarding to drive like any other Audis. No doubt on shoot location, it became the subject of second glances and admiration from passers-by.

Meet Sean, the man behind this machine. He is camera shy so there won’t be any shots of him here (in case you’re looking for them). However, just by looking at the tasteful “upgrades” done to his car, you can immediately relate to him as a connoisseur of style and fashion. We leave it as that to your imagination.

First up on mods, the frontal bodykit is from Rieger, complete with honeycomb front grille inscribed with QUATTRO wordings. Next, the rear end is kitted with an S3 diffuser and stock exos upgraded to a growly Remus Sport. A fine little touch of carbon fibre boot lid spoiler is added to increase the sporty draw.
They say wheels make or break the car, and a delicate subject when it comes to what rim design fits best. In this case, a set of Vertini Concave rims with JBT big brake kit from Top93 Sports Rims has totally redefined the character outlook of this Audi A3.

Appeal factor up 200 percentage points we say! The rest of the photos for your viewing pleasure.
