2016 Mercedes S400 Luxury Sedan

This is one of the most luxurious rides we have ever shot till date, and the only one in Singapore with a decadent interior option by Mercedes Benz’s designo programme. It showcases a peerless, high-quality and exquisite paint finish, an exclusive selection of leather and interior trims that round up to more than 30 grand Singapore dollars. We call this super luxury or rather, an excessive self-indulgence of unimaginable extravagance. Our inertia to step out from shooting the cabin was strong, very strong.

2006 Mitsubishi Evolution 9 GSR X 2009 BMW 135i

It is like a prenuptial shoot all over again. And for the second time in their couple life, their mistress and manstress are also on the set. (Their first was shot at Sepang International Circuit, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Talk about hardcore petrolheads!)

Presenting Shawn and Justina, who literally drove into each other’s lives. He drives the regular-looking white Mitsubishi sedan on steroids – a 2 litre turbocharged Evolution 9 GSR to be exact, while she takes the 300bhp black 135i bimmer coupe. We set off against a beautiful sunrise for some mandatory lovey dovey shots, followed by documenting a small touge skirmish between the passionate husband-and-wife team. Pure fun, and it was all good at the end.

2008 Mitsubishi Evolution 10 X 2006 Honda Integra DC5

These two cars are legendary in their own rights. Featuring A’s black 4-stroke turbocharged Mitsubishi Evolution X and B’s white phenomenal NA Honda Integra DC5 Type R (aka white snake), both of them pedigrees of racing bloodlines, built from ground up in the land of the rising sun. Today, we have a quick shootout in the MCE, capturing both of them from different moving angles in the wee hours of a weekday night.

2013 Audi A3 1.4L Sedan

This is Sean’s 4-ring A3 sedan and probably one of the most handsome looking around. Deliciously kitted with a custom bodykit, generously lowered on coils and rims perfectly upsized, his ride gives everyone the impression of a longer wheelbase, and created a wider and sportier stance for itself. Capturing cars with a low hung morning sun is every automotive photographer’s web dream and the A3 looks just so good against it.

2014 BMW 435i Coupe

We check out Alex’s BMW 435i coupe that has been fitted with a full suite of goodies from the M Performance parts and Monster Tuned to 330 horses. From carbon fibre splitter and duck tail spoiler, blacked-out grille to 20″ ADV.1 rims and Eisenmann race quad exhaust, the list is quite exhaustive. The heavy rain before the shoot didn’t dampen our moods because it created a very interesting canvas for us to play on. Water reflection ratchets up the drama of the shots and we were pretty pleased with the end result.

Porsche Boxster X Mercedes C200

This is Keith and Sheena, and they are a young family of two cars. Just kidding. They have a two year old tot (name withheld to protect the innocent) and he is in his cutest stage of life. The gleaming yellow Porsche Boxster is the fun ride for the family of three while the black suave Mercedes C200 is the family car.

It is never easy to warm up a toddler for an early morning shoot – which explains his glum look in the photo above – and this is when the Porsche comes in handy. A few quick spins and the smiles were back on his face. With that settled, we are blessed for another beautiful morning with an equally awesome sunrise for our family car shoot. Enjoy.

2015 Volkswagen Scirocco 1.4 TSI

A long time ago between the 70s and 90s, the Volkswagen Scirocco was one of those cars that small boys aspired to own and grown up men bought to satisfy this inner boy racer. Almost two decades later, the car manufacturer decided to bring it back to life in a peerless sporty coupe and a much improved driving dynamics and engine of the modern Volkswagen.

At present time, the Scirocco is now in her facelifted 3rd generation and we are absolutely thrilled to be in one of this charismatic sports car for a shoot about. This model is a 1.4 TSI with horsepower rated at 122, with maximum torque of 200 Nm from 1500 to 4000 rpm.

The most pronounced change to the 2015 Scirocco is the new striking headlight cluster design that has an integrated narrow, convex daytime running light contour lining the bottom of the xenon lights module. It is followed by a subtle redesign of the bumper unit that includes what Volkswagen called “aerodynamic blades” to create a more aggressive front fascia. A resulting lowered air intake and 18-inch alloy wheels further accentuates a lower road stance for the Scirocco.

As we stepped inside the coupe, the first thing that caught our eyes was the three-auxiliary instrument gauge that was sitting snugly above the centre console displaying charge pressure, time and engine oil temperature. Everything else is of excellent workmanship, and leather awash the upholstery and steering wheel. With the sunroof opened, the coupe instantly felt like it has become more roomy.

Bulging at all the right places, our flash red Scirocco is, at every moment and every angle, a sexy little beast that is calling out for attention to everyone else on the roads. We were at times uncomfortable with this attention it was drawing but understood why she totally deserved it.

With a pretty big road presence despite her small frame, and a competent handling that equally matches her fast, eager-to-rev drivetrain, we hope the Scirocco maintains a firm place in the Volkswagen line-up for many, many years to come. A success that is definitely difficult to replicate.

Maserati Granturismo X Granturismo MC Stradale

It’s never easy to meet another person whom you grow up with, that shares the same taste, and have the same kind of motivation to sharpen each other as you. You don’t have to look far because here’s one fine example of two dapper gentlemen who have engaged our photography service to capture their prized rides and moments of brotherhood and camaraderie that sometimes, we admit, have been missing in our lives. Enjoy!

2014 Tesla Model S P85 Liftback

This is probably as close an encounter with futurepreneur Elon Musk as we can get, through one of his brainchild products that is set to change the motoring world. The Tesla Model S P85 is our first ever Electric Vehicle (EV) feature and we were super stoked days leading to the actual shoot. Joe is the proud owner whom we have been directly liaising with on our social network.

He himself, together with his beloved car also affectionally known as Tessie, have sort of transformed into mini celebrities overnight. Media all over the world picked up his story regarding the incredible red-tape ordeal he had to undergo for nearly a year before finally putting his imported premium rear wheel driven EV legally on Singapore roads, not forgetting the additional emission surcharges he had to stomach from the Land Transport Authority, ironically coming from a zero emissions vehicle. Given the length of time and amount of effort, it was really down to Joe’s grit and passion for championing sustainability in pulling this through.

All drama aside, Tessie is a real go-getter. Always charged up (pun unintended) and ready to fly. In this short photo shoot session, our impression of her was a car that’s super geek-cool. It has everything falling nicely in a connected world of her own.

Starting from the key fob, it is a titillating piece of eureka gadget. It has proximity sensing (a similar keyless system for some other makes) such that as you approach Tessie, her door handles will extend out to meet your hand. Starting the engine is as easy as pressing on the brake when you sit down in the driver’s seat. The car will shut down and lock itself when you step away.

Another example command is pressing and holding the “roof” of the key fob to lower all the windows at once. Especially useful in Singapore when walking up to a hot car that has been baked under the sun. The bonnet and boot can be opened by pressing on their corresponding parts on the key fob.

Tessie is also 4G LTE ready. The Internet basically lives in the big 17″ infotainment panel right at the centre console. There are minimal buttons unlike your other typical cars so the screen is used to control just about everything, including the generous panoramic roof, door locks, lighting, suspension, regenerative braking, climate, sound, map, rear cameras and even storing customised settings of different drivers.

This is more addictive than the iPad because of the magical feeling to see parts of the car reacting to you in the physical world after you “touch” something virtual on screen.

This is where you plug in to charge Tessie. The other end is your normal 3-pin plug that you use to fire up your daily appliances with such as the coffee maker at home.
There isn’t a normal engine you would expect in the bonnet or the boot either because the induction AC electric motor is located just at the rear axle of the car. It therefore brings good news that you can have twice the storage space of a comparable sedan. For the curious, engine horsepower is 416 bhp@8600 rpm, producing 600 Nm of torque.
Regenerative brakes repurpose the motor as a generator to convert whatever kinetic energy into chemical energy for charging the car battery when you decelerate.

After fiddling with the tech, we head out for a quick drive under the crisp morning sun. The interior is airy, aided by the light coloured upholstery and a huge sun roof. You can never imagine the kind of performance this electric car can produce. It switches between angel and devil mode by just pressure application on your right foot. We quote Stuff.tv, “The Model S is so stealthy. Find an open stretch of road, nail it, and nobody will hear your hooliganism. A pleasing whine from the rear electric motor sounding like a tiny jet engine is the extent of it.”

That sums up our driving experience of Tessie. You can floor the car hard and still walk away smiling guilt free. That is our top of the list for hiding under the radar. We are pretty sure Joe has the last smile too 🙂
